How it is made
Every model starts as real elevation data. We take publicly available digital elevation models of the mountain, process the terrain in GIS software, and build the geometry from the actual topography. Every ridge, ravine, and summit approach sits where it does in the real world, not where an artist decided it should go.
The relief is printed in matte PLA using a multi-color process, with colors mapped to elevation the way a topographic map reads: snow at the summit, exposed rock through the alpine zone, and forest green at the base. Each piece is finished by hand and mounted to a wood base.
