How it is made
Every model starts as real elevation data. We take publicly available digital elevation models of the mountain, process the terrain in GIS software, and build the geometry from the actual topography. Every glacier, arete, and face sits where it does in the real world, not where an artist decided it should go.
The highest summit in the Alps and in western Europe, capped by a dome of ice deep enough that the surveyed elevation shifts by a meter or two from year to year. The relief shows the contrast plainly: rounded and snow-covered on the French side, sheer and broken on the Italian face above Courmayeur.
The relief is printed in matte PLA and finished by hand, then mounted to a wood base. Choose a single-color finish for a clean, sculptural look, or a multi-color finish with colors mapped to elevation the way a topographic map reads.
