How it is made
Every model starts as real elevation data. We take publicly available digital elevation models of the mountain, process the terrain in GIS software, and build the geometry from the actual topography. All four faces, and the ridges that divide them, sit where they do in the real world, not where an artist decided they should go.
Four faces on four compass points, meeting at a single summit. The Matterhorn is close to a natural pyramid, carved by glaciers working inward from every side, and it is both the most instantly recognizable mountain in the world and the most rewarding to hold at desk scale.
The relief is printed in matte PLA and finished by hand, then mounted to a wood base. Choose a single-color finish for a clean, sculptural look, or a multi-color finish with colors mapped to elevation the way a topographic map reads.
