How it is made
Every model starts as real elevation data. We take publicly available digital elevation models of the mountain, process the terrain in GIS software, and build the geometry from the actual topography. The sheer northwest face, the shoulder, and the valley floor below all sit where they do in the real world, not where an artist decided they should go.
Half Dome is the most recognizable silhouette in American climbing, and it is a shape that only real elevation data renders honestly. The face drops nearly 4,700 feet to the valley, and at relief scale that wall reads as a genuine cliff rather than a steep slope.
The relief is printed in matte PLA and finished by hand, then mounted to a wood base. Choose a single-color finish for a clean, sculptural look, or a multi-color finish with colors mapped to elevation the way a topographic map reads.
