How it is made
Every model starts as real elevation data. We take publicly available digital elevation models of the mountain, process the terrain in GIS software, and build the geometry from the actual topography. The double summit, the connecting ridge, and the glacier below all sit where they do in the real world, not where an artist decided they should go.
Austria's highest peak, a sharp double summit standing above the Pasterze, the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps. The Pasterze has retreated substantially in recent decades, which is a good argument for owning a relief built from current elevation data rather than an old map.
The relief is printed in matte PLA and finished by hand, then mounted to a wood base. Choose a single-color finish for a clean, sculptural look, or a multi-color finish with colors mapped to elevation the way a topographic map reads.
